Green Now Marks Supreme Court Win - Environmental Hazards in Bet El Have Been Addressed Following the Petition

Green Now, the Legal Forum's environmental sub-organization marked a significant success in the Supreme Court on Wednesday, May 14, following a petition filed by Green Now in 2012. Green Now petitioned against the dumping of hazardous waste near Bet El.

This area,in the Binyamin region,is home to a number of army bases that,since September 2008, have engaged in unsupervised and irresponsible waste disposal practices,resulting in enormous damage to surrounding ecosystems.

Green Now Holds First Environmental Conference Regarding Judea and Samaria

On Wednesday March 19, Green Now, an environmental organization founded by the Legal Forum for Israel held the first environmental conference regarding environmental legislation in Judea and Samaria. Present at the conference were MK Motti Yogev from the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, Mr. Benny Elbaz who serves as District Manager of Judea and Samaria in the Ministry of Environmental Protection, and Mr. Shoni Goldberg, Jerusalem District Manager in the Ministry of Environmental Protection.

Green Now Files Supreme Court Petition Against Illegal Gas Stations

In Israel constructing a gas station requires strict compliance of safety, reliability and environmental regulations, as well as obtaining permits including a building permit and a business license. After receiving initial permission, the authorization process requires the involvement of other authorities including the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the Israel Police, the Fire Department and others.
